Delbert W. 'Deb' JOHNSON

BATAVIA - The service for Delbert W. "Deb" JOHNSON, 93, of Batavia, who died Sunday, March 10, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield, will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Campbell-Kremer Funeral Home in Batavia, with the Rev. David Albert officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery. Visitation is open until 9 tonight at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be conducted by the Kilwinning Masonic Lodge at the funeral home tonight at 7. Memorials to the Batavia Volunteer Fire Department may be left at the funeral home.

JOHNSON was born March 31, 1902, near Mount Union, the son of Edward and Anna M. JOHNSON. He was raised and educated in the Mount Union and Marshalltown areas. On Feb. 20, 1924, he married Grace L. MORRISON in Batavia. She died June 25, 1979. He attended business college in Marshalltown before moving to the Batavia area, where he farmed until 1929. He then became an auto mechanic and in 1935 purchased the L and M Allis-Chalmers Implement Dealership in Batavia, which he operated for 30 years, retiring in 1966. He served on the Jefferson County Hospital Board and the Batavia School Board. He was a member of the Batavia Volunteer Fire Department for more than 56 years, past master of the Kilwinning Masonic Lodge, and past patron of the Arbor Vitae Order of Eastern Star, both in Batavia.

Surviving are a sister, Alice ORNDUFF of San Jose, Calif.; several nieces and nephews. Two brothers preceded him in death.
