John H. WILSON, 92, of Logan Apartments, formerly of Batavia, died Friday, July 26, 1991, at Jefferson County Hospital.
He was born April 15, 1899, in Wapello County to William and Martha HUTTON WILSON. He first married Leora DeVAULT and she preceded him in death. He married Edna HAGGARD May 3, 1965, in Oak Lawn, Ill. She survives.
WILSON was reared and educated in Batavia, graduating from Batavia High School in 1919. He moved to the Chicago area in 1933, where he was a truck driver until his retirement in 1965 when he moved back to Batavia.
Surviving are a daughter, Joanne WILSON of Anton, Colo.; three step-daughters, Maxine ADAMS of Delta, Colo., Marjorie HNILCA of Newport Richey, Fla., and Marilyn KOLAR of Portland, Ore.; two step-sons, Robert PHILLIPS of Reno, Nev., and J. Daryl PHILLIPS of Mobile, Ala.; one grandchild; 17 step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; many step-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Laura URFER of Batavia.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Campbell-Kremer Funeral Home in Batavia, the Rev. Thomas Clark officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery.
Open visitation will begin after noon on Monday. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Batavia First Responders or the Eldon Rescue Unit.
