Clifford COLE, 89, formerly of Pleasant Plain, died Tuesday night at Maple Leaf Manor Nursing Home in Mount Pleasant where he had been a resident since 1981.
Born Jan. 4, 1898, at Pleasant Plain, he was the son of Perry G. and Laura E. WILLIAMS COLE. The family moved to East Pleasant Plain in 1907 where COLE lived most of his life.
He attended the Pleasant Plain schools and Iowa State College, Ames, and was employed at the East Pleasant Plain bank. When rural electrification was introduced to the area, COLE did the wiring to individual homes.
He was a member of the Pleasant Plain Friends Church and was an Army veteran of World War I.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include one sister, Alice SMITH of Fairfield. Among surviving nieces and nephews are C.G. COLE of Fairfield and Helen HUNT of Brighton.
Graveside services are tentatively planned for 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Friends Cemetery in Pleasant Plain. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Raymond Funeral Home.
