BRIGHTON - N. Alan KURTZ, 56, of Brighton, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 1993, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain with the Rev. John J. Stack officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. A Christian wake service and rosary will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church, followed by family visitation. Memorials have been established. Gould Funeral Home in Brighton is in charge of arrangements.
KURTZ was born Nov. 1, 1936, near Brighton, the son of Norbert and Ferne COURTNEY KURTZ. He attended Burr Oak Grade School and graduated from Pleasant Plain High School in 1955. He married Helen LUKAVSKY on Sept. 9, 1961, at East Pleasant Plain. A lifelong Brighton area resident, he was a farmer. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a former member of the National Guard in Fairfield.
Surviving are his wife; a son, James of Brighton; a daughter, Kim COBB of Brighton; a grandson; his mother, Ferne HOEFER of Brighton; two sisters, Maryln STROHMAN of Mount Pleasant, Ruth Ann KEHL of Dubuque and a brother, Kenneth of Brighton. His father preceded him in death.
