The service for Palmer Joseph HAWK, 86, of Fairfield, who died Tuesday, April 2, 1996, at Jefferson County Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Raymond Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kenneth Royar officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials have been established to First United Methodist Church and Alzheimer's Disease Research.
HAWK was born Aug. 22, 1909, in Buchanan Township of Jefferson County, the son of Joseph S. and Cora BATES HAWK. He graduated from Fairfield High School. On Oct. 19, 1940, he married Mary Elizabeth JONES at her parents' home in Pleasant Plain. He spent his life farming south of Fairfield, specializing in Angus cattle and spotted hogs. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and Farm Bureau.
Surviving are his wife of Fairfield; two sons, Charles of Greenfield, Ind., James of Pleasant Plain; two daughters, Judy MAY of Agoura, Calif., Janet MELCHERS of Fairfield; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson. His parents and two sisters, Louise MOREHOUSE and Dorothy CAREY, preceded him in death.
