Analee HARPER, 79, of Choctaw, Okla., died Saturday, March 15, 2014, at home.
A memorial service is at 11 a.m. March 29 at Hibbs Funeral Home in Choctaw.
Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation was a favorite charity.
Mrs. HARPER was born Dec. 8, 1934, the second of five daughters of Eleanor and Edward GALBRAITH of Fairfield. She married Bob HARPER Aug. 29, 1954.
After earning her teaching certificate from Parsons College in Fairfield, she taught elementary school in Arkansas.
She later attended the University of Oklahoma.
She lived in Midwest City, Okla., for 38 years, then in rural Choctaw the past 15 years.
She was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church.
She loved to travel, garden and cook.
She was an avid volunteer her entire life. She was one of the origial "Pink Ladies" when Midwest City Hospital opened and continued her service to them for 24 years. She was an active docent at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum for more than 37 years, and volunteered at the Metropolitan Library book sale each year.
In addition to her volunteer work, Mrs. HARPER was a master judge with the Oklahoma Flower Show Judges and a member of the Ivy Garden Club.
She also was a member of Oklahoma Retired Citizens Travel Club, Iowa Society and Red Hat Society.
Her "Grandmothers Two" catering business fed thousands and she worked for 20 years as a tour guide with Territorial Tours. She enjoyed highlighting Oklahoma sites and history for visitors and said it was one of her favorite activities.
She spent summers on Wolf Creek Pass near Pagosa Springs, Colo., hiking with their dog Katie. She liked working jigsaw puzzles and reading. She enjoyed visits from her kids, grandkids, friends and relatives. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband, Robert HARPER of Choctaw; one son, David HARPER and his partner Linda NIX of Albuquerque, N.M.; two daughters, Carol JONES of Edmond, Okla., and Paula HOWARD and spouse Bill of Midwest City; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and three sisters, Kathy FLORES, Sylvia TRUMBULL and Linda CATHEY.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia WAUGH.
