Fred DeVORE, 53, of rural Batavia, died at 5:12 a.m., Sunday, March 16, 2014, at home.

Arrangements are pending at Grace Funeral Care in Batavia.

Fred D. DeVORE

Fred D. DeVORE, age 53 of Batavia, passed away at 5:12 a.m. Sunday, March 16, 2014, at his home in rural Batavia.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 21, at Grace Funeral Care in Batavia, with Danny Cary officiating. Burial will be at Batavia Cemetery.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday, March 20, at Grace Funeral Care in Batavia, where the family will be present for visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday evening.

Fredric David DeVORE was born on July 21, 1960, in Fairfield, the son of Carol and Marian GUSTAFSON DeVORE. He was educated in Fairfield, graduating from Fairfield High School in 1978. On October 3, 1981, he married Teresa Kay FISHER in Batavia, and they were later divorced.

Survivors include two sons, Ryan DeVORE (Amanda) of Batavia, and Clint DeVORE of Batavia; one grandson, Roscoe DeVORE, and a second grandson expected to arrive in two weeks; his mother Marian DeVORE of Batavia; three sisters, Lois SHREVES (Charles) of Buffalo, IA, Sara SWANSON (Kelley) of Ottumwa, and Trisha DeVORE (Tony SCHLEISMAN) of Batavia; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; and his beloved dog, Cami.

He was preceded in death by his father Carol DeVORE, and his grandparents.

Fred had been employed for more than 20 years at Midwest Telephone Supply of Fairfield as a telephone technician, travelling all over Mexico and Central America for his work. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge (sic - Eagles Aerie/Club) in Fairfield and the Locust Grove Township Regulators. He was avid about hunting, all types of water sports, mushroom hunting, gardening and canning.
