Marian Ruth HUMSTON

Marian Ruth HUMSTON, 87, of Washington, Iowa, died Monday, March 17, 2014, at home.

A funeral is at 11 a.m. Friday at Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington, Iowa, with the Rev. Troy Richmond officiating. Interment will be at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Memorials have been established for St. James Catholic Church in Washington.

Mrs. HUMSTON was born May 18, 1926, in Fairfield, the daughter of Vincent and Elizabeth DONALDSON MINEART. She married Grant H. HUMSTON Jr. Jan. 24, 1945, in Washington. He died in 1989.

She graduated from high school in Pleasant Plain.

She lived all of her married life in the Washington community.

She worked at the Frontier Restaurant for 27 years. She was currently employed at Sitler Electric where she had worked since 1989.

She was a member of St. James Catholic Church.

She enjoyed working, spending time in her yard, gardening, sewing and reading. She also enjoyed playing cards, board games and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include three daughters, Connie PEEBLER of Batavia, Becky RENOUX and friend Walt Horning of Washington, and Susan LINS and spouse John of Carlisle; two sons, Ed HUMSTON of Mesa, Ariz., and Garry HUMSTON and spouse Sharon of St. Cloud, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Bob MINEART of Northville, Calif.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Larry; one grandson; one brother, Joe MINEART; one step-sister, Lucille GODWIN; and two stepbrothers, Howard and Charles MINEART.
