Patty Ruth MORRIS

Patty Ruth MORRIS, 81, of Fairfield, Iowa, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Maplewood Manor in Keota, Iowa.

Patty was born March 8, 1932, at Fairfield, Iowa, to Ralph Alexander and Myrtle BONNETT CARMICHAEL.

Patty resided in the Jefferson County area most of her life. She was a cook at the middle school. She was manager at the Big O in Fairfield. She enjoyed being outdoors and tending her flower garden. She loved cats. She enjoyed playing the piano and spending time with her family.

Patty was baptized in 1976 as a Jehovah's Witness. She spent the majority of her life teaching others about Jehovah, Jesus and the Bible.

She was united in marriage to Ira Albert MORRIS Jr. on July 30, 1950, in Fairfield. He preceded her in death, June 5, 1984.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ira; three sisters, Donna STREED, Betty LONEY and Mary STULL; and one great-grandson.

Patty is survived by one brother, Robert Alexander CARMICHAEL and his wife Jane of Shenandoah; two daughters, Paula MORTON of McGregor, Texas, and Lee Ann SMITH and husband Dan of Villa Hills, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Melinda (Frank) CHATFIELD of Fairfield, Matthew WELCHER of Fairfield, Monica (Harry) ELLIOTT of Fairfield, Jessica MORTON of Fairfield and Elizabeth SMITH of Cincinnati, Ohio; and eight great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield with Elder Jerry D. James.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Arrangements are in the care of the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.
