Sue Ann Amberg, 66, of Lakewood, Colo., died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004, in Lutheran Memorial Hospice, Lakewood, following a long illness.

A memorial Mass was held Jan. 23 at Christ on the Mountain Catholic Church in Lakewood. Burial was in Logan National Cemetery in Colorado.

Memorials may be made to Rocky Mountain Eye Bank or to Christ on the Mountain Catholic Church in Lakewood.

Mrs. Amberg was born Aug. 26, 1937, in Bradford, Pa., the daughter of Charles and Eileen Johnson Rapp. She married John W. Amberg Feb. 27, 1960, in Brooklyn, N.Y.

She was a 1955 graduate of Bradford High School and a 1971 graduate of Parsons College School of Education.

She worked at Lutheran Medical Center, the Visiting Nurse Service and Colorado Lutheran Home.

Mrs. Ambergs main focus was her family, and she helped others.

Survivors include her husband John, who was a Fairfield resident from 1964 to 1973; a son, Maj. John W. Amberg II and wife Kristen stationed with the United States Army in Japan; three daughters, Mary Lighterink and husband Martin of Solana Beach, Calif., and Kate Amberg and Barb Amberg, both of Lakewood; five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Sylvia Finlan.
