Bettye Ruth STORTZ

Bettye Ruth STORTZ, 74, of Mount Pleasant died at 5:17 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hope Lutheran Church in Germanville, with the Rev. Steve Estrem officiating. Burial will be in Hope Lutheran Cemetery in Germanville.

Family visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Memorials may be made to Hope Lutheran Church or Pleasant View Church in Mount Pleasant.

Mrs. STORTZ was born May 16, 1927, in Libertyville, the daughter of Isaac and Nellie GLOTFELTY OGDEN. She married Howard Irven STORTZ June 2, 1946, in Libertyville. He died Feb. 4, 1996.

Mrs. STORTZ graduated from Fairfield High School in 1944. She attended Iowa Success School in Ottumwa.

She lived most of her life on the farm in Walnut Township of Jefferson County before moving to Mount Pleasant in November 1990.

She was a secretary for Heston-Anderson in Fairfield before her marriage. She was a farm homemaker.

She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Germanville.

Her hobbies included church work, Ladies Aid and sewing quilts.

Survivors include three sons, Richard Irven STORTZ and his wife Darcey of Mount Pleasant, Jim Allen STORTZ and his wife Debi of Erie, Ill., and David Howard STORTZ of Cedar Rapids; one daughter, Kathy Ann KERKMAN and her husband William of Atkins; seven grandchildren; and two brothers, Paul OGDEN of Ottumwa and Wendyl OGDEN of Fairfield.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
