Elmer J. MORRISON, 88, of Batavia died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, at his home.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Kremer Funeral Home in Batavia, with the Rev. David Albert officiating. Interment will be in Batavia Cemetery in Batavia.
Open visitation began at noon today at the funeral home, where family will be present from 7-8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Batavia Volunteer Fire Department.
Mr. MORRISON was born March 15, 1913, in Batavia, the son of Charles and Martha CLARK MORRISON. He married Clara Belle LINDER in October 1934. She died March 13, 1964. He married Darlene KIRCHNER KING June 30, 1965, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.
A resident of the Batavia area all of his life, Mr. MORRISON was a truck driver hauling mostly grain and livestock. He was co-owner of J+M Allis Chalmers Implement dealership in Batavia for 10 years. He also farmed north of Batavia form 1954 until his retirement in 1975.
Mr. MORRISON was a World War II United States Navy veteran, serving as a machinist mate on a repair ship in the Aleutian Islands and in the South Pacific.
He was a member of Kilwinning Masonic Lodge No. 198 in Batavia. He hunted, fished and did woodworking.
Survivors include his wife; and one brother, Charles "Bud" MORRISON of Grand Island, Fla.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Grace JOHNSON, Ethel PUDER and an infant; and five brothers, Walter, Henry, Verner, Arnold and Hollis "Jim" MORRISON.
