March 29, 2004Dorothy Faye Hootman, 90, of rural Douds died at 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 26, 2004, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, east of Douds.
Visitation opened at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family will be present from 7-8 p.m. today.
Memorials to Zion Lutheran Cemetery may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 707 S. Seventh St. Farmington 52626.
Mrs. Hootman was born Nov. 20, 1913, in Pittsburg, the daughter of Lewis and Katie Brook Channel. She married Frank Hootman June 8, 1935, in Davenport. He died March 22, 1996.
After graduating from Douds High School, Mrs. Hootman lived her adult life in the Douds area. She and her husband operated Van Buren Oil Co. in Douds and farmed in the Oak Grove community east of Douds.
Mrs. Hootman was a member of the Keosauqua Lions Club, the former Oak Grove Ladies Aid, Van Buren County Hospital Auxiliary and Douds Saddle Club.
She bowled, danced and rode and showed saddle horses.
Survivors include one son, Clarence E. "Sonny" Hootman and wife Cheryl of Farmington; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Leo, Tom, Bill and Forrest "Pete" Channel; and two sisters, Thelma Talbott and Margaret Laughlin.
