Kenneth "Sonny" Harlan GILL, age 80, of 200 S. 17th St., Fairfield, died at 1:12 a.m. today, Monday, March 29, 2004, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.
Mr. GILL was born June 23, 1923, in Salem, Iowa, the son of Perry Elmer and Ruth Mae GARMOE GILL.
Kenneth married Wanda May (sic - Mae) SAMMONS May 9, 1942, in Kahoka, Mo. She died July 12, 1999.
Kenneth had lived most of his life in Jefferson County. He made his home with Norene Racy.
He graduated from Hillsboro High School. He was a dozer operator for Hickenbottom Construction and Brown Excavating for 45 years. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include five sons, their spouses and one daughter: Kenneth L. and Ricky GILL of Leeton, Mo.; Jerry and Linda GILL of Eldon; Richard and Candy GILL of Mount Pleasant; Jim GILL of Warrensburg, Mo., Tanja WILCOX of Leeton; one daughter-in-law, Anna GILL of Nixa, Mo.; 21 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren; one brother and two sisters, Eugene GILL of Pensacola, Fla., Wanita MILKS of Salem and Pauline VANDENBURG of Burlington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one son, Randy J. GILL; one brother, Arlo GILL; and one sister, Bessie LOVING.
A graveside service for Kenneth H. GILL will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield, with Carl Willhoit officiating.
