March 26, 2004Donald E. Agee, 71, of Ottumwa died at 9:02 p.m. Monday, March 22, 2004, at Hospice House.
The funeral was held at 10:30 a.m. today at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, with the Rev. Dan French officiating. Burial was in Shaul Cemetery, with military services conducted by O.B. Nelson Post 3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post 775 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Memorials may be made to Davis Street Christian Church or hospice.
Mr. Agee was born April 19, 1932, in Ottumwa, the son of Benjamin Franklin and Zadie May Rown Agee. He married Mary A. Smith July 29, 1956.
A 1950 graduate of Ottumwa High School, he had been a resident of Ottumwa all his life and had served in the U.S. Army. He had worked at John Morrell & Co., Ottumwa Water Works and Everco before his retirement.
He was a member of O.B. Nelson Post 3 American Legion and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 114.
He was a lifelong member of Davis Street Christian Church, where he had served as a deacon and trustee.
Survivors include two daughters, Sue Weber and husband Dan of rural Hedrick and Connie Agee of Ottumwa; one son, Don Agee Jr. of Ottumwa; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, Emmett Agee of Yuma, Ariz.; and four sisters, Lucille Tetter of Fairfield, Betty Lowe, Dorothy Canny and Martha Fort, all of Ottumwa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Everett, Harold, Roy, Ralph and Orville Agee; and one sister, Nellie Steuhm.
