Lila May GRIFFIN

Lila May GRIFFIN, 80, 100 N. 16th St., died at 7:45 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 1996, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Raymond Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ed Parker officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials have been established to the American Heart Association and the Lord's Cupboard.

Mrs. GRIFFIN was born Jan. 4, 1916, at Edina, Mo., the daughter of William Thomas and Nora VICE HOSKINS. Her family moved to Fairfield around the time she was 4, and she grew up in Fairfield, graduating from Fairfield High School. She worked at the Iowa Ordnance Plant in Burlington during World War II, in the kitchen at Parsons College from 1962 until Parsons closed, and retired from Plexco. For the past 14 years, she had been the attendant at the Corner Coin Wash. She was a member of Eagles Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxillary.

Surviving are four sons, Billie and Larry, both of Fairfield, Robert of Rock Island, Ill., Terry in California; two daughters, Susan MOWERY of Rock Island, Tammy HAIFLEY of Pleasant Hill; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Wayne HOSKINS of Salem, Ore.; and a sister, Evelyn WILLEY of Montrose. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles HOSKINS; two grandchildren; and two infant sisters, Geraldine and Willabe.
