Kathryn Irene Schumann, 98, of Traer died Saturday, March 20, 2004, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Overton Funeral Home in Traer, with the Rev. Rick Vesely officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Schumann was born July 20, 1905, in Fairfield, the daughter of Homer C. and Lettie LaVina Johns Davis. She married Wilbur Ogden July 1, 1926, in Oskaloosa. He died in 1972. She married Andrew E. Schumann June 21, 1975. He died in 1992.

Mrs. Schumann attended school in Fairfield, graduating in 1923. After her marriage, she and her first husband made their home farming in the Toddville area from 1926 until 1958. From 1958 until 1972, they operated a restaurant/motel in Watkins. After her husband's death, she retired and relocated to New London, with her daughter Joan Downey.

After her marriage to Mr. Schumann, they made their home in Delta, later moving to Mount Pleasant.

After her husband's death, she moved to Traer in 1995. She lived in her own apartment with the daily support coordination of her grandson, Dann Larmore.

She had been a patient at Covenant Medical Center the last two weeks.

Mrs. Shumann was a lifelong enthusiast of crossword puzzles.

Survivors include one son, Ronald Ogden of Escondido, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her two husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Elsie, Helen, Norma Jean, Mary; one brother, Carl; one daughter Joan Larmore Downey; and two sons, Lyle Ogden and Donald Ogden.
