Lynda L. MATHEWS

Lynda L. MATHEWS, 66, of 23355 Mallard Ave., Bloomfield, died at 11:39 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2014 at her home.

She was born July 13, 1947 in Ottumwa to Albert and Albertine CALHOUN WYMORE. She married Gene BURKHART in 1966. They later divorced. She married Danny MATHEWS on October 16, 1993.

A graduate of Davis County High School in 1966, she had worked for Comfort Keepers and for 14 years in the Davis County schools, retiring in 2010.

She enjoyed flowers, gardening, camping and attending garage sales. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving is her husband, Danny; 4 children, Jodi (Gary PIERSON) REYNOLDS of Ottumwa, Kelly (Amy) BURKHART of Fairfield, Dana (Mike) THOMPSON of Wisconsin and Shawn (Melissa) BURKHART of Kirkville; a step-daughter, Susan HASKELL of Bloomfield; 8 grandchildren, Jolea BURKHART, Tyler THOMPSON, Nic THOMPSON, Konnor BURKHART, Austin BURKHART, Daulton BURKHART, Reese THOMPSON and Dain BURKHART; 2 step-grandchildren, Kaden and Colbi HASKELL.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Larry WYMORE.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa with Pastor Larry Smith officiating. Burial will be in Agency Cemetery (note: in Wapello County, IA).

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday with the family present one hour prior to the service to greet friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family or to Heartland Humane Society, PO Box 1149 Ottumwa, IA 52501.
