Services are pending at Behner Funeral Home.

Rex Levi JAMESON

Rex Levi JAMESON, 82, of Burlington, and formerly of Birmingham, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at Heartland Health Care Center in Galesburg, Ill.

A funeral is at 1 p.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Charles E. Comfort officiating. Burial with military rites will follow the service at Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.

The family is not having a visitation.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.

Mr. JAMESON was born Aug. 2, 1931, in Birmingham, the son of Harry Cavit and Sarah Minerva HEWITT JAMESON. He married Lois Marie SIPE, April 6, 1956, in Fairfield. She died Jan. 4, 2014.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War (sic - Korean Conflict).

He and his wife moved to Burlington in 1957.

He worked 30 years as a machinist at J.I. Case Co. and served as financial secretary for UAW Local 807 for several years.

He enjoyed watching Iowa Hawkeye sports, being outside, yard work and remodeling the house.

Survivors include three children, Michael JAMESON of Paxton, Ill., Jalene JAMESON of Burlington and Brenda JAMESON of Jacksonville, Fla; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Lemira COLLETT.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
