Della CAMPBELL LATHROP BRUNGARDT

Della (CAMPBELL) (LATHROP) BRUNGARDT, age 100, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 14, 2013. She stepped onto the shores of eternity where she met her Savior face to face. A private graveside committal service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013, at the Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield, Iowa, with her grandson, Robert BURNS, officiating.

Della was born April 19, 1913 in Fairfield, IA to Anna (YOUNG) and Edgar CAMPBELL. She was united in marriage to Glenn E. LATHROP on July 30, 1939.

Her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ was of utmost importance in her life. She loved her family and considered time spent with them one of her greatest joys. She found great pleasure in the beauty of nature and the simple things around her. She loved life and always had a smile for everyone. Her long life was filled with love, faith and compassion.

As a young woman, she attended Parsons college and worked for many years as a telephone operator in Fairfield. Della served with her husband who was a minister at the Bethel Free Methodist Church in Douds, IA and was an interim pastor at the churches in the Burlington and Oskaloosa, IA areas. She often helped by preaching and also taught Sunday School. Della and her husband later managed the Royal Acres Mobile Home Park in Huxley, IA until his retirement in 1982.

They had three children: Miland L. LATHROP (deceased), Joy D. BURNS (husband Robert, deceased) and Joanna G. LASOF (Mark).

After her husband's passing in April of 1992, she then married Henry BRUNGARDT in April 1997 and the couple resided in Ames, IA. Della later moved to Vancouver, WA to live with her daughter, Joanna. We, her family have been blessed by God to have known her and have her as part of our lives.

She is survived by her two daughters, Joy of Mason City, IA and Joanna of Vancouver, WA; 7 grandchildren Joanne, Sara, Ginny, Vicki, Bob, Randy, and Mark; 11 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

Della was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Rev. George CAMPBELL; her husbands, Glenn E. LATHROP and Henry BRUNGARDT; and her son, Miland (Bud) LATHROP.
