The funeral service for Irma Barbara GRAF, 79,of Mount Pleasant, who died Friday, Jan. 4, 1992, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairfield with the Rev. Alan Hafner officiating.
Burial will be in Hope Lutheran Cemetery at Germanville. Family visitation will be between 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. today at the Behner Funeral Home.
A longtime resident of Jefferson County, Mrs. GRAF died at the Maple leaf Healthcare Center in Mount Pleasant. She was born Feb. 5, 1912, in Prairie du Sac, Wis., the daughter of the Rev. Conrad and Marie KUEFFNER MEYER. She married Lester H. GRAF May 5, 1935,in Readlyn. He survives.
She graduated with honors from Waverly High School in 1930 and from Iowa Wesleyan College in
1962. She had advanced study at the University of Colorado and Iowa State University.She was a teacher in Bremer, Jefferson and Washington counties, teaching in the Pekin Community School District and for 15 years at Mount Pleasant. She had lived in Jefferson County for more than 50 years.
She had been president of the Mount Pleasant Education Association, Retired Teachers, Business and Professional Women and the Mount Pleasant branch of the American Association of Retired Persons. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairfield.
She was instrumental in raising money for the dialysis machines at Henry County Health Center.
Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Dolores Irma POULTER of Mount Pleasant and Margaret KELLY of Burlington; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Paula SHIMINOCK, Alma MEYER, Martha SMICK and Marie DIETER; a brother, the Rev. S.J. MEYER; a granddaughter and a grandson.
Memorials are suggested to the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
