Helen May RANARD, age 90, of 3307 W. Jefferson Ave., Fairfield, Iowa, died at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2004, in St. Peters, Mo.
Mrs. RANARD was born April 4, 1913, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Charles Ross and Stella SCHUTTLEFIELD ARGANBRIGHT.
Helen graduated from Batavia High School. On Oct. 12, 1935, she married Donald Foster ACTON and they made their home in the rural Agency area. She was widowed in 1945, and lived several years in the Bladensburg area.
In 1952, Helen moved to Fairfield to work at The Dexter Company. She married Joseph Walter RANARD Sept. 14, 1958. He died in 1977. She continued to make her home in Fairfield.
Over the years, Helen was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Business and Professional Women, Jefferson County Hospital Auxiliary and the United Methodist Church.
Since retiring, she enjoyed gardening, quilting and community activities.
She is survived by one daughter, Marguerite Karen PHILLIPS and her husband Jack of St. Peters; two granddaughters, Robin SWITZER BRUNNER and her husband Rich of Marion and Carmen Annette SWITZER and her husband Eric TYPPO of Stockton, Calif.; five great-grandchildren, Ryan Charles BRUNNER, Ross Kenneth BRUNNER, Richelle Inez BRUNNER, Austin John TYPPO and Andrew Joseph TYPPO; a stepson, Larry RANARD of Woodward; and four nieces, Donna ROTH of Lincoln, Neb., Linda PULLUM of Goddard, Kan., Suzette HUGHES of Dubuque, and Sharolyn SCHMIDT of Urbandale.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; and two siblings, Marguerite GILTNER and Wayne ARGANBRIGHT.
A memorial service for Helen Mae RANARD will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Behner Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Peterson officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
Friends may sign the guest register from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Behner Funeral Home.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials to Jefferson County Hospital Auxiliary, with memorials and cards sent to Karen Phillips, 4 Mill Race Court, St. Peters, MO 63376.
