John M. McCabe, 60, of Douds died at 5:05 a.m. Monday, March 8, 2004, at Hospice House in Ottumwa.

He was born Oct. 23, 1943, in Fairfield to Gene and Florence Johnson McCabe. He married Gloria Gideon Coleman Dec. 29, 1966, in Kahoka, Mo.

He graduated from Fairfield High School and spent his life working as an electrician and electrical and instrument superintendent in commercial construction throughout the United States.

Surviving are his wife, Gloria; a stepson, Marshall Coleman and wife JoAnn of Lowell; three grandchildren, Corryne, Jonathan and Stephen; a brother, Dick McCabe and wife Marilyn of Clovis, Calif.; two sisters, Ann Wilson and husband, Jim of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Carol Wright and husband Don of Orange, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a stepdaughter, Christine Coleman.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 11, 2004, at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds, with the Rev. Sue Babovec officiating.

Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery, rural Floris.

Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with family present from 7-8 p.m.

Memorials to Hospice House may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 14009 Elm St., Douds 52551.
