Delbert H. MENKE, 83, of Davenport, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at Genesis Medical Center East in Davenport.
Mass of Christian burial is at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Davenport, with the Rev. Anthony Herold officiating. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park (note: in Scott Co., IA).
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Weerts Funeral Home in Davenport.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church choir or to the Davenport Chordbusters Chorus.

Mr. MENKE was born in 1930 in West Point, Iowa, the son of Vincent T. and Catherine L. MENKE. He married Martha A. HUGE June 21, 1975, in Davenport.
He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1948.
He graduated from Iowa State University in Ames with a bachelor of science degree in vocational education at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo., in 1958.
He taught school in Cambridge, Iowa, in 1953-1954. He moved to Davenport and taught at Frank L. Smart Junior High the following year.
From 1956-1961, he set up the electricity program and metal working at Williams Junior High. He then taught industrial electronics and drafting for nine months at Scott Community College in Bettendorf, and from 1962-1974 he taught vocational electronics at Central High School in Davenport. He taught at the vocational center from 1974-1986 and retired from teaching in 1987.
He then worked at Warren Packaging Corp. in Davenport as maintenance man for eight years.
He served in the National Guard for eight years.
His hobbies included membership in the Barbershop Harmony Society since 1961. He received his 50-year pin in 2011.
He was a member of the Handel Oratorio Society at Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill., since 1972; a past member of the Instrument Society of America and the Quad City Chapter of American Theater Organ Society.
He repaired antique radios, record players and TVs in his basement for more than 50 years.
He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and sang in the choir for more than 48 years.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, fourth degree, and always enjoyed working the Tootsie Roll drive each year.
He also spent many summers helping Butch Bos with the sound equipment at the Bix Jazz Festival in Davenport.
Survivors include his wife, Marty and one sister, Rosemary LIEGLER of West Covina, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Maxine BUSHONG and Phyllis BLAIN.
