Gertrude KNEESKERN, 70, of Richland, died today, Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, at Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney.

Arrangements are pending at Gould Funeral Home in Richland.

Gertrude 'Gert' KNEESKERN

Gertrude "Gert" KNEESKERN, 70, of Richland, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, at home.

A funeral Mass is at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mother Cabrini Church in Richland, with the Rev. Robert Striegel officiating. Burial will be in Richland Friends Cemetery (note: in Keokuk Co., IA).

Prayers for a Christian Wake will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the church followed by visitation with the family until 8 p.m.

Memorials for Sts. Joseph & Cabrini Church or for Richland Friends Cemetery may be left at the church or mailed to the family at 400 N. Washington St., Richland 52585.

Gould Funeral Home in Richland is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. KNEESKERN was born June 16, 1943, in Wrenshall, Minn., the daughter of Gilbert and Harriet DeJARLIS WOLF. She married Wayne KNEESKERN May 6, 1967, in Rochester, Minn.

She grew up in northern Minnesota and graduated from John Marshall High School in Rochester, Minn., and attended Rochester Junior College.

She worked as a school secretary for several years then she and her husband owned and operated a motel in Cresco.

They moved to Richland in 1995 and she began working at the Richland branch of U.S. Bank.

She was an active member of Sts. Joseph & Cabrini Church in Richland and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.

Survivors include her husband; two children, Michelle SNYDER and spouse Jamie of Richland and Scott KNEESKERN and spouse Jill of Stillwater, Minn.; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Sharon WOLF of Cresco and Debra WILKINS of Fort Dodge; and two brothers, Ronald WOLF of Owatonna, Minn., and Gilbert WOLF Jr. of Crystal Lake, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
