Injuries Fatal -
R.L. PICKARD Dies

PACKWOOD - Raymond L. PICKARD, 71, Packwood, died suddenly about 5 p.m. Thursday at the University Hospital in Iowa City apparently from complications as a result of injuries he suffered in an accident Oct. 3.

PICKARD suffered a fractured hip and pelvic bone when a horse fell on him. He was making satisfactory recovery at the hospital until he was stricken Thursday.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the Woolson Friends Church with the Rev. Naomi Lock officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Plains Friends Cemetery.

PICKARD had served as Sunday School superintendent at the Woolson Church and clerk of ministry and counsel of the Pleasant Plain Quarterly Meeting.

Raymond L. PICKARD was born Nov. 22, 1902, at Pleasant Plain, the son of William and Mertie WHITE PICKARD. He was married to Gladys Mae LEWIS June 13, 1923. She died May 25, 1926.

They were the parents of one son, Raymond J., Mount Pleasant; and a daughter, Mrs. Herman GOWEY, Batavia.

His marriage to Mabel WILHELM took place June 5, 1929. She survives. Their children are Mrs. Frank BAGBY and Ronald PICKARD, both of Fairfield; Donald, Lockridge; and Gary, Kirksville, Mo.

Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Harold HAYES, Richland. He was preceded in death by his first wife and a daughter.

The body is at the Gould Funeral Home in Richland.
