Ethel Louise Beer, 81, of Keosauqua died at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2004, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Keosauqua United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ellis Andrews officiating. Burial will be in Center Chapel Cemetery southeast of Keosauqua.

Visitation will open at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pedrick Home in Keosauqua, with family present from 7-8 p.m.

Memorials to Keosauqua United Methodist Church or Keosauqua Senior Center may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at PO Box 146, Keosauqua 52565.

Mrs. Beer was born April 8, 1922, near Lebanon, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Edna Mort Wilson. She married Kenneth Blackburn April 5, 1940. He died Feb. 23, 1943. She married Stanley Beer Jan. 22, 1944, in Ottumwa.

She grew up in the Lebanon community, graduated from Cantril High School and lived her adult life in the Center Chapel-Keosauqua community.

She had been a telephone operator at Lebanon, worked at Priebes and Graham's department stores in Keosauqua and farmed with her husband. They later operated Beers T.V., Appliance and Furniture Store in Keosauqua, retiring in 1982.

Mrs. was a member of Keosauqua United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She also was a member of Keosauqua Business and Professional Women and Mothers' Club.

Survivors include her husband; one son, William Blackburn and wife Janice of Keosauqua; one daughter, Karla Winslow and husband Gary also of Keosauqua; four grandsons; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Marjorie Smith.
