A private celebration of Life with Services led by Danny Cary will be held this coming Saturday, November 2, 2013 with family members.

Emil was born February 25, 1924, in Fairfield, Iowa to Emil and Norabelle SHIRKEY HESTON. Emil had two sisters and six brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers LaVerne, Max, Merle, Donald and sister Betty Jean.

He is survived by his sister Earlene, and two brothers, Earl and Kenneth.

Emil married Shirley PEQUIGNOT on October 16, 1951. They recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. He was blessed with five children, six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Daughter Nanette ADAM (Bob) of Fairfield and grandchildren Matt (Kim) and Jessi (Derek), son Bruce HESTON (Stacy) of Des Moines and grandchildren Maxwell, Alexander, and Jack, daughter Sheri HESTON of Farson and grandchild Amy RAGAN (Kevin), and sons Mark HESTON and Mike HESTON of Fairfield.

Emil lived his whole life in Fairfield except for his service in the Army from 1943 to 1946. His career as a surveyor for Jefferson County spanned 37 years. At the same time, in the evening and on weekends, he supported his wife Shirley in the operation of her restaurants. He loved playing baseball as a youth and in his later years he loved crossword puzzles. He was a quiet man with a great, understated sense of humor along with impeccable timing. More than anything he enjoyed seeing his grandchildren and was very proud of all their accomplishments.

He will be missed by all but certainly not forgotten. Join us in remembering him - a kind, sweet, unassuming man who lived a simple life centered on family.
