Shirley EAKINS

Shirley EAKINS, 78 of Milton, formerly of Eldon, died at 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at Hospice House of Ottumwa.

Arrangements are pending at Grace Funeral Care in Eldon.

Note: The above brief obituary was all that appeared in "The Fairfield Ledger" for her through October 11th. A complete obituary was posted online at the Grace Funeral Care website, and gave the following info: Shirley was born March 24, 1935, in Eldon, to Clarence L. and Hazel S. KILDOW BEDFORD. She graduated from Eldon High School in 1953 and that year married Donald EAKINS in Ottumwa. Her husband survives her as do two sons and a daughter, Dennis (Candy) of Coal Valley, IL, William of Milton, and Rhonda (John, Jr.) SICKELS of Muscatine. She also has two grandchildren, Crystal EAKINS and Megan HAWLEY, one great-granddaughter, Nicolette KEPPY, four four-legged grandchildren; three brothers, Vernon, James (Martha), and Charles, all of Eldon; and one sister, Betty ADLER of Pauls Valley, OK. She is further survived by a sister-in-law, Lois BEDFORD of Eldon, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, three brothers, Gene, Donald, and Clarence Jr., and a sister, Dorothy. Shirley's body was cremated according to her wishes and a memorial service was on Monday, October 7, 2013, at Grace Funeral Care in Eldon. Inurnment information was not noted.
