Lee FORREST

Lee FORREST, 89, of rural Packwood, died at 3:07 a.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

Arrangements are pending at Grace Funeral Care in Batavia.

Lee R. FORREST

Lee R. FORREST, age 89 of Hedrick, passed away at 3:07 a.m. Thursday, October 10, 2013, at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, October 14, at Abingdon Cemetery in Abingdon.

Friends may call after 11:00 a.m., Sunday at Grace Funeral Care in Batavia, where the family will be present for visitation from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Lee FORREST was born on February 1, 1924, in Jefferson County, the son of Jesse and Mabel CLINE FORREST.

He graduated from Farson High School in 1941. On April 14, 1962 he married Lois M. COPELAND.

Survivors include his wife Lois FORREST of Hedrick; three sons, Lyle FORREST of Hedrick, Larry FORREST of Batavia, and Lynn FORREST and wife Elizabeth of Batavia; four grandchildren, Alexander, Grace, Emma, and Sophia; and one sister, Lucille GRIFFITHS of Normal, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law W. S. GRIFFITHS.

Lee was a lifelong farmer, where he worked side-by-side with his wife Lois. The couple raised their three boys on the farm, and he was very dedicated to his family. Lee was a charter member of the Packwood Lions Club. He enjoyed bowling, and had been a league member in both Ottumwa and Fairfield. Other hobbies included hunting, fishing, and horses.

A memorial fund is being established for Hospice Compassus of Fairfield, Packwood Lions Club, or the Suburban Heights Baptist Church.
