Aileen R. EMRY

Aileen R. EMRY, age 91 of Batavia, passed away at 2:00 AM, Saturday, September 14, 2013, at Park View Care Center in Fairfield.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, September 18, at Grace Funeral Care in Batavia, with Dave Benson and Eric Hickenbottom officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 PM Tuesday at Grace Funeral Care in Batavia, where the family will be present for visitation from 6:00 to 7:00 PM.

Aileen Ruth KEPLER EMRY was born on August 3, 1922, in Fairfield, the daughter of Leo and Lucille DRUMMOND KEPLER. She graduated from Fairfield High School, and later from Parsons College with a bachelor's degree in education. In 1944 she married Laird Blaine EMRY, and he preceded her in death on April 19, 2006.

Survivors include three daughters, Sharon BENSON and husband Dave of Floris, Susie GREINER and husband Ronnie of Douds, and Debbie SWOPE and husband Darrell of Batavia; eight grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren, with three more great-great-grandchildren expected in the coming weeks; and one brother-in-law Keith IRELAND of Springfield, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her husband; three sisters, Evelyn FORDYCE, Carol RICHARDS, and Lucille IRELAND; and one brother, Charles KEPLER.

Aileen spent many years teaching home economics and business courses in Batavia, Eldon, Agency, and Cardinal. Her whole life was wrapped up in caring for her husband and family.

A memorial fund will be used to set up a scholarship fund at Cardinal High School in Aileen's memory.
