Earl J. TAYLOR, age 79 of Eldon, passed away at 12:41 p.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 15, at Iowaville Cemetery near Eldon, with Pastor Dave Bowden officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Grace Funeral Care in Eldon.
Earl Junior TAYLOR was born on January 17, 1934 in Birmingham, the son of Earl H. and Ila L. WILES TAYLOR. He graduated from Selma High School in 1951. On ovember 26, 1952 he married Shirley Mae REISCH in Ottumwa, and she preceded him in death on May 17, 2007.
Survivors include three sons, Alan TAYLOR and wife Becky of Kirksville, Missouri, Kevin TAYLOR and wife Julie of Cedar Rapids, and Darren TAYLOR and wife Lisa of Floris; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard TAYLOR of Burlington; and one sister, Betty ROBERTS of Bloomfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, one sister, and one great-grandson.
Earl was employed for 44 years at Lowden's (sic - Louden's) in Fairfield, while at the same time working part-time in farming. His greatest love was his family, and he excelled at sharing his love with them. Earl was very compassionate, and showed great concern for others, even at the expense of himself. Prior to Shirley's death, the couple wintered in Texas, and travelled extensively.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established for the Eldon Christian Church.
