"Mrs. Myrtle Bates Hyde, 90, died Wed. at 10:15 p.m. at the Nelson Nursing Home. Former Fairfield resident, made her home in Ottumwa for many years. . . . .Burial in Evergreen. Born Apr. 10, 1876 in Fairfield, dau. of Jeremiah and Sarah Kerr Bates. Reared and educated in this community. Married Dec. 2, 1896 to William Hyde, who died in 1906. Baptist Church. Survived by four grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren. One of her granddaughters is Mrs. William Orr, Scottsbluff, Neb., former Fairfield resident. Preceded in death by one son, one grandson and one brother."
