Floyd Franklin Sheets, 94, of 3000 W. Madison Ave., died at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004, at Jefferson County Hospital.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Mike Metz and the Rev. John Louk officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Masonic rites will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Raymond Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials have been established to First United Methodist Church, Clinton Masonic Lodge No. 15, or to the charity of the donors choice.

Mr. Sheets was born March 8, 1909, in Keosauqua, the son of Charles Wesley and Anna Leota Hanan Sheets. He married Wanda Kathryn Barker June 15, 1933, in Bonaparte.

Mr. Sheets grew up in the Keosauqua community, graduated from Keosauqua High School and received two years of college. He was a state registered engineer. He served as assistant engineer and surveyor for Van Buren County for 13 years. He worked for three years at Louden Machinery Company as a draftsman. He was a highway engineer for the Iowa Department of Transportation for 30 years. He worked in Fairfield from 1946 until 1966 and in Ottumwa from 1966 until his retirement in 1976.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church and was a 58-year member of Clinton Masonic Lodge A.F. and A.M. No. 15; Fairfield Lions Club; Methodist Men; and Howard Johnson Coffee Club.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Patricia Ann Funkhouser and husband Tom of Fairfield; one son, James B. Sheets and wife Marilyn of Ames; three grandsons; four granddaughters; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Ray H., Ivan K., Carl L., Lauren G. and Lester B. Sheets; and one sister, Mary Isabel Sheets.
