Harold D. DeHART

Harold D. DeHART, 81, of Tomahawk, Wis., died Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at his home under the care of Ministry Hospice from complications of Alzheimer's disease.

The funeral is at 11 a.m. Thursday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Douglas Harding officiating. Burial will be in Center Chapel Cemetery, southeast of Keosauqua.

Visitation with family present will be 10-11 a.m. Thursday prior to the service.

Memorials to the Alzheimer's Association may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at W-5565 DeHart Drive, Tomahawk, WI 54487.

Mr. DeHART was born Jan. 16, 1932, in Glevniew (sic - Glenview), Ill., the son of Delmar and Mildred MADDIX DeHART. He was married April 26, 1953, to the late Virginia M. ETRICK. He later married Caren E. FUNK Dec. 12, 1980, in Wausau, Wis.

He graduated from Berlin High School in 1951.

After high school, he served two years in the U.S. Army stationed in Kansas and Korea.

Mr. DeHART moved to Tomahawk in 1955 and established the Northern View Mink Farm with his father. He ran the mink farm until his retirement in 2003. While in the mink business, he was the founder and president of the American Fur Farm Animal Welfare Coalition and a founding member of the United Feeds Corporation.

Survivors include his wife, Caren; one daughter, Paula DeHART and spouse Jeff ERICKSON of Stevens Point, Wis.; one son, Ken DeHART and wife Lori of Tomahawk; and five grandchildren.

In addition to his first wife, Mr. DeHART was preceded in death by his parents;one (sic) brother, Richard DeHART; and one step-son, Tim FUNK.
