Hazel Margaret Butler
February 16, 2004Hazel Margaret Butler, 95, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004, at Hospice House in Ottumwa.
A private funeral will be held at Reece Funeral Home, with the Rev. Stephanie Raphael-Nakos officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemtery in Ottumwa.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice House or Willard Street United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Butler was born Aug. 4, 1908, in Fairfield, the daughter of Ray and Anna Casey Grove. She married Raymond Ray P. Butler in December of 1930 in Kirksville, Mo. He died Nov. 23, 1968.
Mrs. Butler was a resident of Ottumwa for most of her life. She did volunteer work for 25 years at Jefferson County Hospital and Ottumwa Regional Health Center auxiliaries.
She was a former member of Williard St. United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Workman and husband Larry of Ottumwa; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Dick Butler; and three sisters, Florence Cook, Lois Dennison and Catherine Lucas.
