Chester M. MANARY, 81, died Tuesday, July 2, 1991, at the Nelson Nursing Home in Fairfield.
MANARY was born Sept. 18, 1909, in Stockport, the son of James and L. Blanche DESPAIN MANARY. He married Nellie I. WOODS, and she preceded him in death in November 1986.
He was a self-employed painter and lived most of his life in Fairfield. He lived for a time in Shakopee, Minn. He was prominent in professional boxing circles, he liked to fish and hunt.
MANARY is survived by one son, James E. MANARY, and one daughter, Jean LOTHRIDGE, both of Iowa City; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Keith I. MANARY of Ottumwa; and one sister, Esther BAMESBERGER of Houston.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one brother.
The graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Evergreen Cemetery, with the Rev. Keevin Koch officiating.
