Ray HILL

PACKWOOD - Ray HILL, 66, of Packwood died at 7:59 a.m. Friday, June 28, 1991, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

He was born Harry Ray HILL on Jan. 12, 1925, at Ollie, the son of Harry H. and Glennie BALES HILL. He grew up in Ollie, graduated from Ollie High School and served in the United States Army in Europe during World War II.

Hill was a member of the Packwood United Methodist Church and a member and past commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He farmed, was a self-employed truck driver and had worked for eight years on road maintenance in Jefferson County before his retirement at 62.

HILL married Edna HIPP Sept. 25, 1946, at the Methodist Church in Washington, Iowa.

Surviving are his wife; one son, Harold R. HILL of Packwood; one daughter, Elaine WIKSTROM of Hampton, Minn.; five grandchildren; one brother, Dean HILL of Hedrick; and one sister, Iva Bell MITCHELL of Packwood.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield, the Rev. Edith Dunkin officiating. Burial will be in Packwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials have been established to the Packwood Community Center and the Packwood Fire Department.

Military rites will be conducted at the graveside.
