Aletha BUCKINGHAM HAY

Aletha BUCKINGHAM HAY, 90, a former Fairfield resident, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, in Burlington.

A private memorial service will be held.

Mrs. HAY was born Oct. 31, 1922, in rural Fairfield, the daughter of Joe and Laura BUCKINGHAM. She married John Woodruff HAY in 1942 in Fairfield. He died in 2005.

She graduated from Fairfield High School and Parsons College.

She was a school teacher for many years in Burlington.

She was an accomplished weaver and taught many people the craft.

Survivors include three children, Judy HAY RHEA of Metairie, La., David HAY of Burlington and Kevin HAY of Kansas City, Kan.; siblings, Ruth HOYT of Ottumwa, Helen NEFF of West Lake Village, Calif., Della TAYLOR of Mount Pleasant, Edith GAUBY of Nampa, Idaho, Bernice OGDEN of Fairfield, Chris BOYENGA of Merced, Calif., and Doris EPPERSON of St. Francis, Kan.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Marilyn; two sisters, Lois SHOOK and Carol NELSON; and two brothers, Glen BUKCINGHAM and Frank BUCKINGHAM.
