Linda Sue VORHIES

Linda Sue VORHIES, 65, of Fairfield died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

A celebration of life is at 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Wotherspoon officiating. The body has been cremated.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church for "Be Not Afraid Books." Cards and memorials can be sent to 500 E. Fillmore Ave., Fairfield 52556.

Mrs. VORHIES was born May 29, 1948 to Arthur "Fred" and Nevada SHONDEL BRADLEY in Fairfield. She married Russell A. VORHIES April 16, 1967.

Mrs. VORHIES was a daycare provider for 42 years. She had a passion for all children. One of the things she loved most was reading to all her children -- her own children, grandchildren and daycare children.

She was a member of First Baptist Church.

She was past president of Fairfield's Women's Bowling Association. Under her leadership the Fairfield Men's and Women's Bowling Associations were merged to form the Fairfield United States Bowling Association.

She was a lifelong resident of Fairfield.

Survivors include her husband, Russell VORHIES; two children, Saundra YUTE and spouse Jeff of Indiana and Matthew VORHIES and spouse Melissa of Des Moines; three grandchildren; five brothers, Tom BRADLEY, Mike BRADLEY, Jack BRADLEY, Jerry BRADLEY and John BRADLEY; and one sister, Ann EDWARDS.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Jimmy, Charles Pete; and one sister, Phyllis KELTON.
