Lucille MOORE

Lucille MOORE, 91, of Montezuma and formerly of Kellogg died Saturday, August 10, 2013, at her home. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at the Montezuma United Methodist Church. Burial wil be held in the Bethel Cemetery near Lynnville. Visitation will begin after 10:00 pm on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma with the family present from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family.

Lucille Lorraine MOORE, the daughter of Harry and Esther BLACKWOOD CLINE was born on October 28, 1921 at Sully, Iowa. She was raised on her family's farm which later became a century farm. She attended country school and graduated from Sully High School in 1939. She then attended nursing school at St. Joseph's in Ottumwa and returned to Montezuma and worked at the Poweshiek County Home. In 1946, she married Robert Lawrence MOORE. The couple farmed in the Sully and Lynnville area. To this union one son was born.

Lucille and Bob loved square dancing and ballroom dancing. She also enjoyed bowling and crocheting, as well as knitting canvas crafts, and making gifts for others. After Bob's death in 1977, Lucille became a fearless traveler and was recognized as being determined and strong willed. Lucille had a tendency to find good in any bad situation. Above all, family and faith were the most important part of Lucille's life. She believed strongly in the power of prayer and was steadfast in her faith.

She was a member of the Bethel and Kellogg Methodist Churches and attended the Calvary Baptist Church in Grinnell. She was also a member of the VFW and American Legion Auxiliary. Lucille also played an important role in preserving historical facts and the town's history with the Kellogg Historical Society.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, a brother Max CLINE and an infant brother.

She is survived by her son William Eugene (Ruth Ann) MOORE of Montezuma; her grandchildren: Theresa Rene (Todd) McCREEDY of Fairfield and Karoline Kay (David) WATSON of Ankeny; her great grandchildren: Tessany (Rick) HAINES, Skylar WATSON, Tanner McCREEDY and Tayler McCREEDY. Lucille also leaves behind a great-great-granddaughter, Chloe HANES.
