Sharon K. HIATT-HILBRANT

Sharon K. HIATT-HILBRANT, 77, of Mount Pleasant, formerly of Fairfield, died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

A funeral is at 1 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Deborah Stowers officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Finley Cemetery (note: Finley-Wayland Cemetery in Wayland, Henry Co., IA).

Visitation begins at noon Friday at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant. Family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to American Diabetes Association and First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. HIATT-HILBRANT was born Nov. 14, 1935, in Nevinsville, the daughter of Albert and Loretta CARSON HUTCHINSON. She married Eugene HIATT Dec. 31, 1951. He died June 30, 1982. She married George Tom HILBRANT Dec. 24, 1985. He died Oct. 10, 1988. She married Eldon WITTHOFT Aug. 3, 1996.

Mrs. HIATT-HILBRANT attended Fairfield High School.

She farmed with her first husband.

She was a bus driver in Mount Pleasant Community School District for 27 years. She also worked for Bezoni's True Value as a sales clerk and H & R Block as a receptionist during tax season.

For many years, she and her husband, Eldon, tended to the duties of the family acreage in Mount Pleasant.

She was a 4-H leader, enjoyed bird watching and loved vegetable and flower gardening.

She enjoyed gathering family for home-cooked meals.

She especially enjoyed traveling.

She and her second husband enjoyed attending Iowa Hawkeye football games in Iowa City and traveling to out-of-state games.

For 11 years, she and her husband spent the winter months in Texas.

She was a Sunday school teacher for many years in Fairfield and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant.

Survivors include her husband, Eldon, of Mount Pleasant; four daughters, Pam OETKEN and spouse Gary of Danville, Deb MUELLER and spouse Jim of Mount Pleasant, Christy CHURCH and spouse Hal HARPER of Des Moines and Cindy TISDALE and spouse Mike of Cedar Rapids; one son, Ed HIATT and spouse Heather GOODEN of Mount Pleasant; two stepdaughters, Sara LADLIE and spouse Darin of Fort Dodge and Susan BASYE and spouse Ryan of Dysart; one stepson, Steve WITTHOFT and spouse Tina of Mount Pleasant; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Jan MACRI of Spotsylvania, Va.; and two brothers, Denny HUTCHINSON of Lucas and Mike HUTCHINSON of Des Moines.

In addition to two husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents.
