Mrs. Rosa May BATES, 81, died Sat. at the Mahaska County Hospital. Bur. Evergreen. Widow of Dr. Thomas J. BATES, Fairfield veterinarian. Her home here was at 306 S. C St. Born Nov. 24, 1875 in this county, dau. of John & Mary MARIES DROZ. Her first marriage was to R. A. P. McCLELLAN in 1895. She was married to Dr. BATES in 1922 (sic - September 11, 1923). Surviving are 6 grandchildren, 5 greatgrandchildren, two brothers, William DROZ, Fairfield, and Ben DROZ, Peoria, Ill., and a sister, Mrs. Mabel EVANS, Fairfield. One son, one daughter, two brothers and four sisters are deceased.
