Helen D. PACHA

Helen D. PACHA, 86, of Washington, Iowa, and formerly Brighton, died early today, Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Washington County Hospital in Washington.

A funeral is at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sts. Joseph and Cabrini Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation begins at 5 p.m. Friday at the church, with the family present 6-8 p.m. Prayers for a Christian Wake are at 7 p.m. Friday.

Memorials for St. Joseph Cemetery, Brighton Volunteer First Responders or the Center for Disabilities and Development specializing in autism in children many be left at the church or mailed to the family at 1022 S. Avenue B, Apt. 2A, Washington 52353.

Arrangements are in the care of Gould Funeral Home of Brighton.

Mrs. PACHA was born Aug. 19, 1926, in Brighton, the daughter of Raymond S. and Hazel D. ROBERTSON WIKOFF. She married Walter PACHA May 11, 1945, in East Pleasant Plain.

She grew up in the Brighton area, graduated from Brighton High School and earned her teaching certificate.

She taught country school for a few years, then raised her family and worked with her husband on the farm.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society, P.E.O.--Brighton Chapter AQ, Good Neighbors Club and Brighton Cemetery Board.

She took great pride in her family, her home and mowing the yard.

Survivors include her husband Walter in Washington, Iowa; two sons, Tom PACHA and spouse Miriam of Brighton and Mike PACHA and spouse Cathy of Libertyville; two daughters, Diana PACHA of Washington and Melinda PACHA-ANDERSON and spouse Blair of Royal Oaks, Mich.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Deborah COX; and one brother, Keith WIKOFF.
