Tuesday, February 14, 1984Emerson MASDEN dies at 77
F. Emerson MASDEN, 77, a native of Jefferson County and a resident of Fairfield since 1973, died at 2:55 a.m. today at the Jefferson County Hospital where he was admitted Monday. He had been in failing health.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clair Odell officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Raymond Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church.
Always interested in history, especially of his home community and Jefferson County, he kept a mental file of county historical facts and willingly shared those facts and experiences with anyone who was interested.
Emerson MASDEN was born July 25, 1906, the son of Frank and Amy EMERSON MASDEN. He lived on the same farm northeast of Fairfield where he was born, for 67 years before moving to Fairfield in 1973 at the time of his retirement. The home is located at 400 South D.
He was married to Eileen DALLNER Aug. 4, 1929, at the United Methodist Church in Fairfield. He was a member of the church and Odd Fellows Lodge.
In addition to his widow MASDEN is survived by three daughters: Marilyn CLARK, Chariton; Judy MURPHY, East Moline, Ill.; and Janet FRETHEIM, Marion.
Also seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Inez MASDEN, Fairfield. He was preceded in death by one sister.
