February 09, 2004Jay Donald Whisler, 37, of Pulaski died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Bloomfield Christian Church, with the Rev. James Wakelin and the Rev. Kevin Gingerich officiating. Burial will be in Pulaski Cemetery.
Visitation began at 9 a.m. today at Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with the family present from 6-8 p.m.
A memorial has been established to his childrens education fund.
Mr. Whisler was born April 15, 1966, in Bloomfield, the son of Donald and Jean Jarvis Whisler. He married Brenda Metcalf Oct. 17, 1987, in Bloomfield.
Mr. Whisler was a resident of Davis County his entire life. He was a carpenter and worked at J.C. Huffman Cabinetry in Fairfield.
He was a member of Bloomfield Christian Church and a member of the Pulaski Volunteer Fire Department and was certified as a firefighter I. He also had served as fire chief.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gunnar and Coleson, both at home; his parents of Pulaski; and one sister, Jodi Dominguez of Abilene, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lem and Blanche Jarvis and Albert and Ada Whisler.
