Chester Harold 'Chet' DANIELSON

Chester Harold "Chet" DANIELSON, 87, a lifelong resident of Fairfield, died Wednesday, July 17, at home.

A funeral is at 10 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church. Burial with military rites will be at Unionville Cemetery in Unionville, Mo.

Visitation for family and friends will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Behner Funeral Home and Crematory in Fairfield, followed by a Masonic service by Clinton Lodge No. 16 at 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Parkinson Disease or Danielson Motor Co. Scholarship fund.

Cards and memorials can be mailed to 605 S. Highland St., Fairfield 52556.

Mr. DANIELSON was born Jan. 4, 1926, the son of Frank R. and Martha BAUER DANIELSON. He married Shirley LEWELLEN in Cedar Rapids in 1950. They later divorced. He married Lorene WEBB in Unionville, Mo., in 1977 at the First United Methodist Church.

Mr. DANIELSON graduated from Fairfield High School in 1943 and from Iowa State College in 1950, with a bachelor of science degree.

He served in the United States Air Force Reserves until December 1948.

He and his brother Charlie were co-owners of Danielson Motor Company, selling Chrysler, Plymouth and Dodge automobiles. He enjoyed the car business and his association with people.

He served on various boards and was a director of AAA Motor Club of Iowa for 39 years; director of Iowa Automobile Dealers Association; director of Chrysler Plymouth Advertising Association for 21 years and served as president twice; secretary of Chrysler Plymouth Dealer Council; and president/CEO of Streater Products Corporation from 1955 to 1982.

After retiring he helped others with advice and good works.

He enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and overseas and went on 14 cruises.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, an usher for many years and served on the Lay Leader Committee.

He was a life member of Elks, American Legion, Masonic Lodge AM/FM, Consistory 32 degrees and Kaaba Shrine.

He was secretary treasure (sic) of Midwest Warehouse Distributors, founding director of Hawkeye Credit Life Insurance Co., a past city council member, trustee of Fairfield Water Works, a past president of Jaycees, a past president of chamber of commerce, Man of the Year 1964, and president of Fairfield Community Fund.

He was a member of Lions Club, Fairfield Country Club, Walton Club and Abracadabra.

Survivors include his wife, Lorene DANIELSON of Fairfield; four children, Ronald DANIELSON and spouse Marsha of Terre Haute, Ind., Janet COOGAN and spouse Patrick of Bettendorf, Barbara HAYS and spouse Matt of Zionsville, Ind., Steve DANIELSON and spouse Lori of Terre Haute; and three stepchildren, Alexis LEWIS and spouse Ron of St. Joseph, Mo., Melody CACKIN of Omaha, Neb., and Tiffani GROVE and spouse Josh of Ottumwa; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy TRUHLSON of Omaha; and one brother, Charles DANIELSON of Bella Vista, Ark.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Ruth SCHONER.
