Joseph H. O'CONNOR, 92, of Redwood Falls, Minn., formerly of Fairfield and Brookfield, Ill., died Monday, July 1, 2013, at Parkview Home in Belview, Minn.
A mass of Christian burial was today at St. Catherine's Catholic Church. Interment is in St. Catherine's Catholic Cemetery (note: in Redwood Falls, MN).
Visitation was today at the church, prior to the funeral.
Memorials may be made to the Redwood Senior Center, Box 114, Redwood Falls, MN 56283.

Mr. O'CONNOR was born April 23, 1921, in Chicago, the son of Michael and Helen LANZ O'CONNOR. He married LaVerne SMITH Oct. 21, 1950, in Chicago Heights, Ill. She died in 2004.
He graduated from Carl Schurz High School in Chicago in 1939.
He worked as an apprentice in a pattern maker shop before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1942. He served in the South Pacific on a repair ship during World War II. After receiving his honorable discharge, he worked at Howard Foundry in Chicago as a foundry engineer.
After marriage, he and his wife made their home in Brookfield, Ill., where they raised their family.
In Septemer 1972 they moved to Fairfield where Mr. O'CONNOR worked as assistant plant manager at Fairfield Aluminum Castings Company until he retired in 1986.
In April 2004, they moved to Redwood Falls.
He was a member of the Pattern Makers Union, Moose Lodge in Chicago, American Legion in Fairfield and was a trustee at St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield.
He and his wife enjoyed wintering in the south.
He enjoyed woodworking, building and fixing things and restoring antiques.
He loved being with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include three children, Thomas O'CONNOR and spouse Derry of Des Moines, Joan ACKERMAN and spouse Robert of Hayward, Wis., and Maureen GANO and spouse Ken of Redwood Falls; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lucille FLOOD of South Bend, Ind.
In addition to his wife LaVerne, he was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jim and Bernard.
