Maynard Charles Mineart, 73, of Kennewick, Wash., and formerly of Brighton died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at the Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice in Kennewick.

A funeral Mass will be held at 8:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain, with the Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Memorials made payable to St. Joseph Cemetery can be mailed to Tricia Allen, 9757 S. Copplestone Circle, Sandy, UT 84092.

Gould Funeral Home in Brighton is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Mineart was born July 23, 1930, in Ottumwa, the son of Henry William and Carrie Grace Lamansky Mineart. He married Joyce Marietta Fritchen Dec. 26, 1953, in Keota. She died in January 2002.

Mr. Mineart was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a carpenter. He built his home in Kennewick in 1970 and had resided there since. He worked on Glen Canyon, Ice Harbor and Lower Monumental dams, and with Lydig Construction helped to build Columbia Center Mall; Kamiakin, Kennewick and Richland high schools; Columbia Basin College; and the Justice Center. He owned and operated the Enchanted Toy Shoppe until earlier in 2003.

Survivors include two daughters, Debi Ann Peterson and husband Mike of Kennewick and Patricia Michele Allen and husband Dan of Sandy; four grandchildren; and siblings LeRoy Mineart of Brighton, Margaret Anderson of Fairfield, Harold Mineart of Brighton, Curtis Mineart of Washington, Iowa, and David Mineart of Norwalk.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by siblings Christine McClinitic, Sylvester Mineart, Raymond Mineart, John Mineart, Evelyn Gevock and Maurice Mineart.
