James R. DAILEY

James R. DAILEY, 90, of Eldon, died at 1:26 a.m. today, Monday, June 17, 2013, at Ottumwa Good Samaritan Health and Rehab Center in Ottumwa.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Grace Funeral Care in Eldon.

Note: A more complete obituary has not been published in "The Fairfield Ledger" as of June 26th; however the Grace Funeral Care website had at complete obituary posted as of June 29th, and following are some notes from it:

A graveside memorial service for Jim will be at Brooks Cemetery in Hedrick (Keokuk County, IA) on June 22nd at 3:00. Jim was born in Bladensburg on May 1, 1923, to parents Raleigh and Eva BAIRD DAILEY. He married Carol WATTS in Agency June 9, 1945, and entered the U.S. Army April 24, 1946. He was in the Army until September 19, 1947.

Survivors named are his wife Carol of Eldon, daughter Marlys PRICE HAMPTON (Paul) of Ballwin, MO, and sons Dr. Richard DAILEY (Kay) of Overland Park, KS, and Dr. J. Wayne DAILEY (Lois) of Joplin, MO. Also surviving are seven grandchildren (J. C. PRICE, Elizabeth PRICE LEE, Cole DAILEY, Jade DAILEY GUTSCHENRITTER, Tyler DAILEY, Bryce DAILEY, and Emilee DAILEY), three great-grandchildren (Emerson PRICE, Harper PRICE, and Tristan LEE), five nieces and one nephew. An infant daughter (Mary Kay), two sisters (Dorothy and Katharine) and two brothers (Herbert and Ralph) preceded him.

He worked at Hardscog Pneumatic Tools in Ottumwa, and then farmed for most of his adult life, and worked as a carpenter. He like to be outdoors doing things like hunting and fishing, and reading.
